The Phantom Blade Zero story setup — Soul the framed assassin, the murdered Lord, the friend turned hunter, and the 66-day deadline driving revenge.

Phantom Blade Zero's campaign is a revenge mystery with a clock on it. Here is the setup, assembled from official lore reveals.
Where Soul comes from
Soul is the orphan of the Dark Demon Fortress, a century-old underworld power. His family was massacred when he was young, and the boy was taken in by Mu Tianmiao, Lord of The Order — the Phantom World's most feared assassination organization. Raised alongside Zuo Shang, another of the Lord's wards, Soul rose to become the youngest of The Order's seven Envoys, codenamed Black Wound, its finest blade.
The frame, and the fall
Then Lord Mu Tianmiao is murdered — and every piece of evidence points at Soul. Zuo Shang, his closest friend, seizes the moment: The Order and the Righteous Alliance unite to bring the traitor down. In the battle that follows, Soul's heart is destroyed. He falls from a cliff, dying — and is saved by a healer called Ghost Hand, who uses a forbidden art to rebuild him. The price is absolute: 66 days to live. When the clock runs out, the heart shatters.
What the game is about
With the clock running, Soul hunts the truth: clear his name, find the Lord's real killer, and expose Zuo Shang's play for The Order. But the deeper theme is kungfupunk's heart. The powers hunting him — The Order, the Righteous Alliance, the Holy Mother's cult — all treat the jianghu's powerless as expendable. A dying man with nothing left chooses to spend his final days defending the people no one else will: see how that philosophy works in kungfupunk explained.
