The man behind the codename: Soul, the Order's youngest Envoy.

You play as Soul — in Chinese, simply "Hun," the word for soul. In the Order's books he carries a second name: Black Wound, the codename of the youngest Envoy in the assassination guild's history.

Why the name matters

The protagonist being named Soul is not an accident of translation. Director Soulframe Liang took his own industry handle from the same well, and the character is the studio's thesis in one word: a killer whose organization erased his past, now fighting to prove his identity is real before his 66 days run out. The dark-fortress orphan raised by the Lord he is accused of murdering — the name is the wound.

Soul in one paragraph

The last orphan of Dark Demon Fortress, raised by Mu Tianmiao, Lord of The Order, alongside his closest friend Zuo Shang. Framed for the Lord's murder, hunted by his own guild and the Righteous Alliance, heart destroyed and rebuilt by a forbidden art with a 66-day limit. His blade work is the finest in the Order — and the game's Sha-Chi combat is built to make you feel exactly that. Full setup in the story explained.

How he plays

Soul's signature is weapon fluidity: primary and Phantom Edge secondaries swapped mid-combo, qinggong movement, and execution reads on dying enemies. The starter pairing and every revealed weapon are catalogued in the weapons gallery.

One nice piece of trivia before you go: the January 2025 "Year of the Snake" reveal — an uncut boss battle recorded in one take — was the first time many players met Soul's final moveset. The road from that video to launch is mapped in latest news recap.
