Phantom Blade Zero Demo: How the Playtests Worked and What's Next

Every Phantom Blade Zero demo explained — the Beijing playtest, the Hellwalker demo with Seven Judgments, and what happens after launch.

Phantom Blade Zero ran one of the most generous demo campaigns of any AAA in development — multiple public playtests on two continents before launch. Signups for those events have closed, and the game arrives in full on October 29, 2026, but the demo story explains exactly what kind of game is coming.
The playtest timeline
- June 23 - July 6, 2025: official signup window for the first large-scale offline playtest
- July 26-27, 2025: the Beijing playtest at Shougang Park, livestreamed on Bilibili and Douyin with content creators on-site
- 2025-2026: rotating demo booths at Summer Game Fest, Gamescom and ChinaJoy
- 2026: the Hellwalker difficulty demo — a harder slice featuring the multi-phase boss Seven Judgments and the Sha-Chi Master-style parry checks
What the demos proved
The Hellwalker slice was designed as a final exam: Brutal Move parries, Killer Move Ghoststeps, a boss with phase checkpoints and a fourth phase reserved for the top difficulty. Press and player reaction was strongly positive — see the reception breakdown in demo hands-on.
Can you still play it?
The offline playtests and signups are over; no demo is currently live on the storefronts. The next playable version of the game is the real thing: October 29 on PS5 and PC — see release date and pre-order guide. Any surprise demo drops before launch would be announced on S-GAME's official channels first — see official sites.
